Course 102: Humanist Values and Principles

Have you ever considered how individuals develop morally? Have you wondered about ethics and how we make ethical decisions? Or have you considered what one does when consequences and rights clash with a chosen set of values, such as not believing in killing, but supporting a woman’s right to choose abortion? Then come explore Humanist Values & Principles with us!
Only students who have completed pre-requisite Course 101 (The Humanist Life Stance) may register for Course 102. Minimum of 5 enrolled students is required to offer any course. Please email us if interested in Course 101.

Kevin W. Jagoe
Kevin W. Jagoe holds a BA in anthropology and criminal justice as well as a Master in Nonprofit Management from Hamline University in Saint Paul. He is a graduate of The Humanist Institute with a Certificate of Humanist Studies and Leadership and is studying for his Master of Divinity at Meadville Lombard Theological School. He is currently serving First Unitarian Congregational Society of Brooklyn, NY as a Ministerial Intern. He is also serving the Church of the Larger Fellowship as a Learning Fellow. He currently serves on the board of the Unitarian Universalist Humanist Association and the Advisory Board of the American Humanist Association’s LGBTQ Humanist Alliance.
Dr. Anne Klaeysen is a Leader at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, the Ethical Humanist Religious Life Adviser at Columbia University, and the Humanist Chaplain at New York University. She is also co-dean of The Humanist Institute and serves on the board of Sunday Assembly NYC. She holds a Doctor of Ministry degree in pastoral counseling from Hebrew Union College, as well as master’s degrees in German from the State University New York Albany and business administration from NYU.
